Confident enough in your poker skills to play on the big stage? Have a look at the current and upcoming live poker events based in the UK, Ireland or further afield. Whether you want to qualify to take part or simply go along to spectate, these poker events are entertaining affairs which always draw huge crowds every time.
UK and Ireland Poker Tour 2015/16 (UKIPT)
The UKIPT, sponsored by PokerStars, began in January with a successful opening event in London from the 20th to 25th. It was followed by events in Nottingham (April 12th to 19th), then moving to Spain for the Marbella event (June 15th to 21st) travelling on to Bristol’s Harbourside (6th to 9th August) and then stopping in the Isle of Man from the 1st to 4th of October.
The tour continues its run in Scotland from the 19th to the 22nd November this year with a new venue for the Main Event – it’s being held in the Genting Club Casino at the Fountain Park Entertainment Centre in Edinburgh. Highlights of the Edinburgh tournaments schedule include the Main Event (which has a £700+£70 buy-in) the single re-entry Edinburgh Cup (a £300+£30 buy-in) and the High Roller which is also a single re-entry for £2000+£200.
Season 5 of the UKIPT will conclude in Dublin next February, from the 10th to the 20th. Taking place at one of the city’s premier function venues, the RDS in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, the event promises to be spectacular. With a series of tournaments from the UKIPT Main Event (February 10-14, 2016 with a €1,000 + €100 buy-in) to the €25,000 High Roller tournament, there’ll be something to entertain every poker enthusiast.
Grosvenor UK Poker Tour 2015 (GUKPT)
The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour continues on its 8th consecutive season, having recently stopped in Luton and Blackpool it now comes to London for its grand finale. From the 22nd November to Sunday 29th November, the tournament arrives in the Grosvenor Victoria Casino London, on the Edgware Road in London. Its main event has a £2000 + £125 buy-in.
European Poker Tour (EPT)
Anyone prepared to travel a bit further for their poker fix can look to the European Poker Tour which is currently taking place across the continent. The next EPT event takes place in the Czech capital of Prague for the Prague Poker Festival, being held at the Hilton Prague Hotel from December 5-16, 2015. The Prague event is always a popular event on the calendar, with its reputation as one of the most enjoyable stops on the EPT. It has plenty of exciting high stakes games, with the Super High Roller event (December 8-10, 2015) starting with a €48,500 + €1,500 buy-in.
Irish Poker Open 2016
The Irish Poker Open is the longest running poker tournament in the whole of Europe, created back in 1980 by the famous Irish bookmaker, Terry Rogers. It runs in Dublin every Easter weekend, and returns next March, from the 21st to 28th to be held in the Citywest hotel. The main event features a reduced €1,150 buy-in, has a re-entry option and promises a guaranteed €500,000 prize pool – all of which are certain to please Irish poker fans. Previously sponsored by Paddy Powers bookmakers, the Irish Open now tuns independently. The Irish Poker Open website is still under construction, and timetables for satellites are yet to be finalised, but those interested should keep checking back for new details.
